What We Do

CHAMPS is a marriage and family therapy (MFT) study being conducted at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Researchers are working with couples to understand the relationship between exercise, sleep, stress, emotional regulation and therapy outcomes among marital couples. Working with participating couples in gaining important regular physiological information is the most important part of this research. Participating couples provide the physiological data, in which we can use to help improve marriage therapy and create lasting change in marriages.

If you would like to take part in strengthening future marriages please participate.

Eligibility requirements for participating couples includes:

- Married at least 1 year
- Fluent English speakers
- Not currently participating in individual, marriage or family therapy
- Come into the BYU Comprehensive Clinic weekly to drop off/receive freshly charged devices (10 minutes per week)

Study Activities

- Participate in a pre-research meeting at the BYU Comprehensive Clinic
- Have a total of 2 MRI's at the BYU MRI Facility
- Wear an accelerometer and heart rate monitor to provide physiological data
- Come in weekly to drop off/receive freshly charged devices (10 minutes per week)
- Complete a brief online questionnaire daily (5 minutes per day)

A couple can expect to participate for 4-6 weeks.

Compensation

Upon completion each couple:
Will receive $300 for participating in the study.
If desired, receive Marriage Counseling, Free of Cost.
